Pack 369 Opening Flag Ceremony

As you face front, American Flag is already posted to the left; Pack Flag is posted to the right.  Cubmaster enters and stands facing the Pack midway between the two flags.

CUBMASTER:  All rise.  <Everyone stands.>  <insert Den Leader name here>, please come forward to lead the opening ceremonies.

Cubmaster and Den Leader exchange the Cub Scout handshake.  Den Leader takes the center spot facing the Pack.  Cubmaster stands just behind and to the right to assist the boys.

DEN LEADER:  <Scout 1> and <Scout 2>, please come forward.

Scouts come forward, stand in front of Den Leader, salute and hold.  Den Leader salutes and holds saying “Get the colors.”  Den Leader releases salute; boys release salute and turn to go get the flags.  Each boy faces the Pack holding his flag on his toe. The Pack flag should be slightly inclined so that it is lower than the American flag.

DEN LEADER:  <Scout 3>, please come forward.

Scout comes forward, stands in front of Den Leader, salutes and holds.  Den Leader salutes and holds saying “Lead the Pack in the Pledge of Allegiance.”  Den Leader releases salute; boy releases salute and turns to face the Pack.

<Scout 3>:  Scout Salute!  I pledge allegiance… and justice for all.  Two! Releases salute.

Scout 3 turns to face the Den Leader, salutes and holds.  Den Leader salutes and holds.

DEN LEADER:  Thank-you, <Scout 3>.

Scout 3 rejoins his Den.

DEN LEADER:  <Scout 4>, please come forward.

Scout comes forward, stands in front of Den Leader, salutes and holds.  Den Leader salutes and holds saying “Lead the Pack in the Cub Scout Promise.”  Den Leader releases salute; boy releases salute and turns to face the Pack.

<Scout 4>:  Scout Sign!  I <name> promise to … the Law of the Pack.  Two! Releases sign.

Scout 4 turns to face the Den Leader, salutes and holds.  Den Leader salutes and holds.

DEN LEADER:  Thank-you, <Scout 4>.

Scout 4 rejoins his Den.  Den Leader looks to the flag bearers and says…

DEN LEADER:  Post the colors.

Scout 1 and Scout 2 return the flags to the stands, turn and walk to face the Den Leader, salute and hold.  Den Leader salutes and holds.

DEN LEADER:  Thank-you <Scout 1> and <Scout 2>.

Scouts rejoin the Den.  Den Leader turns to the Cubmaster and, again, exchanges the Cub Scout Handshake.  Den Leader rejoins the Den.
